RUAG returns overhauled life rafts to customer in less than 24 hours

RUAG Aviation has successfully completed the overhaul of two Winslow life rafts, achieving an outstanding turnaround time of less than 24 hours. The two rafts, arrived at the RUAG’s Component Shop in Munich at 14.53 on 23 January. By 14.30 the following day, the now-overhauled rafts were already on their way back to the customer. This confirms the leading market position of RUAG Aviation in this sector....

The industry standard for overhauling a single Winslow life raft can be anything up to three weeks, the RUAG Aviation guarantees a standard turnaround time of only three days on each life raft – delivering the highest quality, guaranteed OEM compliance and full certification. In the case of two Winslow life rafts, the RUAG team rose to the challenge of an even tighter deadline, “We took delivery of the two rafts at 14.53 on 23 January,” says Ralf Dohle, Manager Component Shops, RUAG Aviation. “To fit in with the customer’s schedule, we had to ensure that we had completed the overhaul of both rafts by 15:00 the next day. This is only possible thanks to our combination of a lean, highly skilled team, an in-house logistics centre, fully SAP-based operations, and an extensive stock of replacement parts allows the company to achieve remarkable turnaround times on every component in its portfolio,” adds Ralf Dohle.

The Component Shop is part of RUAG Aviation’s one-stop shop for business aviation services in Munich. It is an approved Centre of Competency for Winslow life rafts, and its expertise has made it the industry’s leading provider of life raft services. The centre also specialises in the testing, recoding, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of almost all aircraft components – from flight data and cockpit voice recorders to emergency power supply and underwater acoustic beacons assuring minimum turnaround times and maximum aircraft availability.
